Yes! A post for today, today!

Okay this is the last post I'm writing tonight. In 6 minutes it will be a new day... and for me a new year. In 6 minutes, it will be my 34th birthday. How will I celebrate? I'm not sure. Since Lisa and the baby can't really get out yet, there goes going out to eat with the whole family. So I doubt I'll even see or hear from my parents since I talked to mom earlier tonight and she didn't even wish me a happy birthday. *shrugs* Oh well.

Today we found out that our bid was accepted on the second house we looked at. It's a single-wide mobile home with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It's gorgeous! We have to sign a new contract tomorrow on it so that's the first thing on the agenda. (I need to remember to tell Jay to call IRS about his last year's W-2)

Oh, today we also went to Galveston to the beach. It was Jay, me, Mark, and Erin that went. It was great fun. We all got sunburned but hopefully by tomorrow it wont hurt so bad. *LOL* Mental note... never go to Mario's "Risterante" (or however they screwed the spelling up on it) For $40 we could have had an awesome burger and fries at Whataburger instead of the stuff they claimed was pizza at this place *LOL*

All in all, though, it was good. I'm about to head to bed though, as I'm tired and cold. (When I get a sunburn I get cold instead of hot for some reason... go figure)

Night!

This one is backdated as well...

I was going to post this last night but I didn't have time/energy to do so. This one is a rant. Yes, another one. Sit back and just read.

I have been looking around and listening to people talk here in the city that I live in and several questions come to mind. Now before I start this, let me tell you that I have absolutely nothing against Mexicans... even Mexicans living in the US. I have several aunts and uncles as well as a grandfather who live in Mexico and I love them dearly. My problem though is with those that come to the US to "better their life" but refuse to learn to speak English.

Last night we were at the store and behind a couple in the checkout line. It was a woman a man and their daughter. As they were leaving the little girl started talking to the mother... in Spanish. Now... I have no problems with children learning both languages but if they wanna raise their kids in the US they should raise them learning English as well. This child spoke no English that I heard.

Now you are probably saying "Well what if you moved to Mexico and had a child, would you be able to speak Spanish?" No, I wouldn't... which is why I will never move to Mexico. One of my aunts tried to talk me into moving there after 9/11 and I turned her down. I would have had a free place to live and help until I could find work. The main reason I didn't go though, was cause I don't know that much Spanish and I don't want to learn it!

In Arizona, I was out of work for over 2 months. I looked for work daily but no one would hire me. Why not? Cause I didn't speak Spanish! This royally pissed me off. This is the US, people. Learn to speak English or GO HOME.

These kids are going to grow up speaking Spanish at home... and when they go to school they'll have special classes so that they can learn in Spanish (I know in Tucson they have them!) so they will never have to learn English... so that they can raise another generation of kids that don't know the language of their chosen country. Are we, as a nation, going to end up having to learn Spanish just so we can communicate with the growing population that comes over here legally (not to mention illegally)?? Lord I hope not... if so, I'm moving to England.

Mr. Holland's Opus

I just finished watching this movie for probably the upteenth millionth time and for the upteenth millionth time I find myself in tears several times throughout the movie. I was lucky enough in my life to have a "Mr. Holland".... and interestingly enough, he was my band teacher. My younger brother and sister were lucky enough to have him as their teacher as well, and my older brother had him for the last 3 years of his school as well. I can remember in high school he talked (or tried to talk) several students out of dropping out of school. He sent flowers to students when they had deathes in their families. He got onto us when we failed classes... not because of the "No Pass, No Play" rule but because he cared. He and his wife treated the students as if we were all part of their family. And even now, after so many years have passed, they still treat us as family. I have had the opportunity and the priveledge of continuing my relationship with them into my adult years and I cannot imagine life without them in it. They celebrate with my family in our happy times and grieve alongside us in sad times.

When I first saw this movie, I had just moved to Oklahoma. As soon as I finished watching it, I wrote my old teacher a letter thanking him and his wife for being a part of my life and that of my family's. I encourage everyone to think about teachers that may have touched your life and let them know.

House Woes...

Okay so Jay and I found the home we really want to get. It's a doublewide mobile home with four bedrooms. Not much of a yard but it's something we can work on.

That's the good news. We were going to be going through a place called Countrywide Home Loans for our loan but today they told us they wanted $430 upfront for an appraisal done on the home. They also wanted another fee of over $30 for a credit application fee or something. I understood the application fee but the appraisal sounded fishy.

While I was at work tonight, Jay did some looking online and happened across this site:

http://www.countrywidehomeloansucks.com/

Apparently the whole company is crap and we wont be going through them to get the house. I am glad we found out before we got a loan from them, though. I will also be sending the URL to our real estate agent since she suggested them to us. Please, if you are considering them for your home loan or refinance loan, think twice!!!!

Reesa's new philosophies on life....

1. Don't wear your heart on your sleeve or someone may squish it under their thumb like it were a ripe cherry tomato.

2. Want an invisibility cloak? Introduce two of your friends and wait. You'll be invisible within a few weeks.

3. Never accept promises from anyone.

4. Walls are a great thing at times. I think I'm gonna bring mine back. Gotta love them.

I know a few of you think this is pointing at you. Oh well. This encompasses more than just you.

The day after...

Know what 73301, 84201, and 05544, as well as a handful of other numbers, have in common? They are zip codes. *nods* Zip codes for where, you may be asking... for the IRS offices across the country. And that's what I spent last night, the night before, and will spend tonight typing. Most people have had since at least February to send in their taxes but for some odd reason most people wait until the very last day... the very last minute and second even. Well that was at 11:59 pm yesterday. So if you didn't get yours in on time, ya might wanna look though all that government BS and find the number you're supposed to call to say it's gonna be late.

Now... one would think something as important as income taxes, people would pay more attention to what they have to do... right? WRONG. I can't tell you how many images I saw last night that showed the "Please paste IRS address here"... Um... is anyone home??? Guess what... it aint going no where. If there is no city state or zip it's coming right back at ya. And thank goodness that only a handful of zip codes can be for IRS... cause some of the addies looked have been written by the same 5 year old that wrote out their Christmas cards.

On the upside at work... I have found out through flashes of tabloids that I have to key addies for... that Brittany (Spears) is pregnant... that she almost lost the baby... that she's "secretly" shopping for baby. Demi Moore is smoking while pregnant. Oprah may or may not be splitting from whoever she is with. Bradd is openly seeing Angelina, and Courtney Cox is standing by her "Friend" Jennifer. There ya have the last 2 weeks' tabloid headlines in a nutshell. Now... aren't ya glad you didn't go out and spend your money on them??

**RESTATEMENT OF PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY***
99.9% of all guys in the world are idiotic assholes. The other .1% are either under the age of two... or are gay. ((Although I have a nephew who is almost 3 and he's an angel around me so maybe I should up the age... maybe it is at puberty. *laughs*))

Dishes, trash, and other things yucky

Well, I decided to try something, again, and once more it isn't working. *smirks* I didn't figure it would. Sign on fridge says "I will NOT be the only one washing dishes in this house. If you see a sink full, WASH THEM.". Well.... the guys have been off for a few days, and guess what? Still full. The trash, well most of it, is gathered but still sitting in the kitchen floor, yet they had a chance to take it today, when they went to the movies.

So my options? Let it all sit and smell, do it at 4 in the morning when I get home and wake the household up (Hey, I like this idea...) or just gripe and deal with it. I guess I get to gripe and deal with it since every time is the same. joy.
